Thursday, September 25, 2025: Here are "Alice's Beatitudes" which she wrote for an Emmaus Celebration which she left us as a gift.

Nancy and Perry Lindquist from Oconomowoc Wisconsin, spoke about their long, joyful relationship with Alice. Nancy, who has 2 cochlear implants and is otherwise deaf, asked the audience to make the sign for "I Love You."

Here are "Alice's Beatitudes" which she wrote for an Emmaus Celebration which she left us as a gift.


Alice’s Beatitudes:

Alice was working on her version of the Beatitudes a few weeks before her death in preparation for a celebration with her Emmaus community. Traditionally, each Beatitude starts with the words “Blessed Are you.” After doing some research into their original scriptural meaning, she rewrote her Beatitudes to reflect her commitment to world community.

We Stand With You, the humble in spirit who practice kindness. You will break open our hearts.

We Stand With You the poor and oppressed, with people of color and immigrants facing brutality, detention and prison.  Your fearlessness will stir us to action as we seek to become fearless like you.

We Stand With You Women, Gay men, Lesbians, Transgender Individuals, Queer and Questioning and all who live lives of authenticity.  Your struggles help us recognize the divine in every person. 

We Stand With You who mourn for the world; You will find comfort in your chosen families and communities and build bridges of hope.

We Stand With You who hunger for justice; for you will create a new world in which all of us share in the banquet of peace.

We Stand With You  who show loving mercy; for you will empower us to be non-violent and merciful to all.

We Stand With You who listen to your conscience and speak out your truth; you challenge the status quo and move us to act.

We Stand With You  peacemakers and those who teach non-violence.  You will liberate  us from the madness of war, prison and hate.

Dear Sisters and Brothers of Emmaus: On Monday Linda, Marcie and David visited with Lindsey Kerr, the Pastor of Christ Church Methodist in Santa Rosa in order to assess whether moving to Christ Church for our liturgies would be advantageous for all of us at Emmaus. Many of us have worked with Lindsey and consider her to be an excellent leader who is courageous and energetic. We received a warm welcome from Lindsey who showed us around Christ Church and opened the room in which we may meet. It’s not in the church – but an unused classroom that’s part of the larger set of buildings in the complex.  The room has space enough for us, lots of windows and some storage. They are buying new tables for the room. The room used to be a classroom so there’s plenty of room for our celebrations.  Saturday, February 1, 2025: Announcement about Bill Boorman (Sir Will) Victoria just called and explained that Bill Boorman is in his transitional phase. He's no longer eating or drinking. He's still mentally sharp but is having great difficulty communicating. Let's lift up Bill as he begins his passage  Bill is one of the kindest, most talented, and generous people of this age or any other. He loved life,  companionship, friends, art, and good food. Bill used every day to live a full life.
