The tithing recipients we talked about yesterday at Emmaus.
1) The Black Wealth Builders Fund $3,000
Is an initiative launched in 2021 by Arlington Community Church (UCC) in Kensington, Ca. The fund was established to address the racial wealth gap by providing zero-interest loans to Black first-time homebuyers in the Bay Area,assisting with down ;payments and closing costs. The fund aims to promote generational wealth and to counteract the ;
lasting effects of discriminatory housing policies.
2) Welcoming Home/One Room at a Time $1,000
It's a nonprofit helping individuals and families who are transitioning out of homelessness or poverty by furnishing and equipping their homes so they are comfortable, livable , and more than just empty spaces.
3) Sonoma Family Meals, $1,000
formerly known as Sonoma Overnight Support (SOS).
A nonprofit located in the town of Sonoma, Ca. It's a local nonprofit that provides emergency shelter and support services to people experiencing homelessness.
4) INARA (International Network for Aid, Relief and Assistance) $2,000
Is a nonprofit that provides life-altering medical and mental health care to children affected by conflict, especially in the Middle East. INARA connects them with doctors, hospitals, and therapy, and covers the cost of their care.
5) COTS (Committee on the Shelterless) $2,000
A nonprofit organization in Petaluma, Ca. It helps people experiencing homelessness get back into stable housing and self-sufficiency. They provide shelter, meals, job training, housing assistance and supportive service for individuals and families in need.
6) The North Bay Organizing Project (NBOP) $3,000
A community-based coalition in Sonoma county that brings together local organizations,faith groups, and residents to work for social, racial, economic, and environmental justice.
Its North bay Rapid Response Network (NBRRN) is one of its key programs, a community defense network that helps protect immigrant rights, respond to ICE activity, and support families facing deportation or discrimination.
7) Community Bikes $500
A local nonprofit located in western Santa Rosa serving western Santa Rosa and West Sonoma County. promoting bicycles asd an environmentally friendly alternative to driving. teaching "all comers" (regardless of age, skill level, or financial status) how to safely maintain, repair, and reuse bikes & bike equipment
Bikes are donated to low income families, people experiencing homelessness, job seekers, etc.
Provides skills and training in bike repair and maintenance, which can empower individuals with mechanical skills.
8) Catholic Charities of Northwest California $2,000
They aim to empower the most vulnerable to achieve dignity, hope, and self-sufficiency.
The donation is for immigration department, specifically legal fees to fund a citizen.
