Friday, March 6, 2026: Time Change Announcement for this Sunday and The Seventh Station: Jesus Falls a Second Time
Announcement: Time Change to 4:00 this Sunday
Dear Ones: Please remember the time change occurs this weekend and our celebration starts at 4:00 because we have additional daylight.
The Seventh Station: Jesus Falls a Second Time
Scripture: Romans 8:31-32; 38-39
If God is for us, who is against us? He who did not spare his own Son but gave him up for us all, will he not also give us all things with him?...For I am sure that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.
PRAYER:
Lord Jesus, you fell beneath the weight of your cross a second time, bruised and humiliated by your torturers. We hold in our hearts the many immigrants such as Manuel who jump through the hoops of our immigration legal system to lawfully seek safety but still suffer grave injustice. Give them awareness of your love and presence and the strength to move forward.
Reflection:
Jesus fell under the weight of the world–not just once, but now for a second time. So why did Jesus accept trauma, stress, suffering and humiliation and even death? Because he had a vision of a better world - the kindom of God – a world of compassion where there are no boundaries between people. No hate, no fear, no war. Where the only command is to love one another.
Story:
My client, Manuel, was an asylum seeker living in the D.C. area. He had a partner and young son and was slowly building a new life in the United States after fleeing danger in South America. He was complying with all court requirements and appointments – but one day he was randomly picked up by ICE and has been detained ever since, separated from his family.
He has no criminal history. We filed a bond case for him, and right as I was finalizing the bond case to get him home to his family, a decision from the Board of Immigration Appeals was released that made most noncitizens ineligible for bond. It broke my heart to break that news to him and his partner. He has another attorney now working for to get him out of detention, but he needs many prayers for his release.
