Emmaus Liturgy Celebration 2nd Sunday of Easter, April 12, 2026

Opening Song:   We have come to the Seashore

Refrain: O Lord, with your eyes set upon me, gently smiling, You have spoken my name; all I long for I have found by the water, at your side, I will seek other shores.

Senor, me has mirado a los ojos, sonriendo has dicho mi nombre, en la arena he

dejado mi barca, junto a Ti buscare otro mar.

1. Lord, you have come to the seashore,

Neither searching for the rich nor then wise.

Desiring only that I should follow.

2. Lord, see my goods, my possessions.

In my boat you find no power, no wealth.

Will you accept then, my nets and labor?

3. Lord, take my hands and direct them.

Help me spend myself in seeking the lost,

Returning love for the love you gave me.

4. Lord, as I drift on the waters,

Be the resting place of my restless heart,

My life’s companion, my friend and refuge.

Call To Worship: Jim: Christ is risen

All: Christ is risen indeed!

We have seen the empty tomb,

And we have heard the good news.

But resurrection does not end at the tomb--

It meets us on the shoreline…

In the quiet of the morning, in the work of our hands,

in the places we return to when we don’t know

 what’s next.

 There--

 Christ calls to us again.

“Come and eat” “Come and follow”  “Go and make disciples.”

“We are a people mended by love—

and sent to live that love in the world.

Come, let us worship the risen Christ.

- Pastor Matt Pearson

 Pat: Opening Prayer

All: God of resurrection life, You meet us in the in-between places —  after the miracles,

before we know what comes next. In Jesus Christ, you come to us in the ordinary moments of our lives - when we are still becoming.

Through him, you invite us to abundance, welcome us to the table, and send us into the world.

Strengthen what you have begun. And give us courage to go—to love, to serve to witness, to be your presence in the world. We pray in the name of Jesus Christ,  who feeds us and send us, Amen. - Pastor Matt Pearson

 Liturgy of the Word

Elaine: 1st Reading from the Acts of the Apostles 2:42-47

They devoted themselves to the apostles’ instructions and the communal life, to the breaking of bread and the prayers. A reverent fear overtook them all for many wonders and signs were being performed by the apostles. Those who believed lived together, shared all things in common. They would sell their property and goods, sharing the proceeds with one another as each had a need. They met in the Temple and they broke bread together in their homes every day. With joyful and sincere hearts, they took meals in common, praising God and winning the approval of all the people. Day by day, God added to their numbers those who were being saved.

Response: The Stone Which the Builders Rejected

The stone which the builders rejected

Has become the cornerstone

Alleluia! Alleluia! Has become the cornerstone!

1 Alleluia! Alleluia! say God's love is without end

 2. Alleluia! Alleluia! God is here to help me now.

3.Alleluia! Alleluia! for You hear and answer me.

 4. Alleluia! Alleluia! for God's love is without end.-  by Bernadette Farrell

2nd Reading from the Gospel of John 21:3-13

Jim: Simon Peter said to the other disciples, “I am going out to fish”.

“We’ll join you”, they replied and went off to get into their boat.

All through the night they caught nothing. Just after daybreak, Jesus was standing on the shore, though none of the disciples knew it was Jesus. He said to them, “have you caught anything, friends?” “Not a thing they answered”. “Cast your net off to the starboard side,” Jesus suggested, “and you’ll find something”. So, they made a cast and caught so many fish that they couldn’t haul them in. Then the disciple whom Jesus loved cried out to Peter, “it’s the teacher!” Upon hearing this, Simon Peter threw on his cloak-he was naked- and jumped into the water.

\Meanwhile the other disciples brought the boat to shore, towing the net full of fish. They were not far from land-no more that 100 yards. When they landed, they saw that a charcoal fire had been prepared, with the fish and some bread already being grilled. “Bring some of the fish you just caught”, Jesus told them. Simon Peter went aboard and hauled ashore the net which was loaded with huge fish-153 of them.

In spite of the great number the net was not torn. “Come and eat your meal”, Jesus told them. None of the disciples dared to ask, “who are you?” -They knew it was the Savior. Jesus came over, took the bread and gave it to them, and did the same with the fish. This marked the third time that Jesus appeared to the disciples after being raised from the dead.

Dialogue Homily- Jim: In his resurrection appearances Jesus seems remarkably ordinary and human. He fixes a breakfast for the disciples over a campfire. He “goes fishing” with them. It seems that he really just enjoys their company, extending peace to them and sharing his Holy Spirit with them. When I think about myself, I’m so driven to do “what needs to be done” I forget to just enjoy the company of those I’m working with and receive from them. Does that ring any bell with you?

Prayer of the Faithful (Joys and Concerns)-Spoken with usual hand gestures

Basket of Giving- We remember John and all those who have gone before us at this time.

Liturgy of the Eucharist

All: On the night before he died, Jesus was at table with his friends. He took bread, gave thanks to you, broke it and gave it to his friends saying, “This is my body, broken for you”.

As supper was ending, Jesus took the cup of wine. Again, he gave thanks to you gave it to his friends and said, “This cup is the new covenant of my life’s blood shed for you; and as often as you do this, you do this I memory of me”.

Communion Song: Bread for the World

Bread for the world, a world of hunger

Wine for all peoples, people who thirst.

May we who eat be bread for others.

May we who drink pour out our love.

Lord Jesus Christ you are the rbead of life,

Broken to reach and heal the wounds of human pain.

Where we divide your people, you are waiting there

on bended knee to wash our feet with endless care.

Lord Jesus Christ, you are the wine of peace.

Poured into hears once broken and where dryness sleeps.

Where we are tired and weary you are waiting there

To be the way which beckons us beyond despair.

Lord Jesus Christ, you call us to your feast,

At which the rich and pow’rful have become the least.

Where we survive on others in our human greed,

You walk among us begging for your ev’ry need. by Bernadette Farrell

Prayer after Communion

All: Promised One, You, who put the song of joy in our hearts, strengthen hands and knees that are weak, Open our eyes and ears. Free our voices to truth and beauty as we joyfully sing of your praise, we dance and clap our hands.

Weave, weave, weave me the sunshine out of the falling rain.

Weave me the hope of a new tomorrow and fill my cup again. REPEAT REFRAIN

 1. I say that the tree of loving (shine on me again) grows on the bank of the river of suffering (shine on me again)

2. If only I could heal your sorrow (shine on me again)

I’d help you to find your new tomorrow (shine on me again)

3. I’ve seen the steel and the concrete crumble (shine on me again)

The proud and the mighty all have stumbled (shine on me again)

4. Only you can climb that mountain (shine on me again)

If you want to drink from the golden fountain (shine on me again)
