Monday, October 26, 2026: Announcements from JoAnn and the Interfaith Council

Notes from JoAnn from our celebration yesterday: During yesterday's Sunday celebration we started to discuss the whole issue of what we should do for the end of life. Plan for traditional burial? Plan for cremation?  Plan to give our bodies to science? Plan for what Jim and JoAnn have opted for "Soil Transformation or Earth Funeral." What follows is a description.

Subject: Earth Funeral Webinar Registration Link & Additional Resources.

JoAnn writes: Here is the link to the Webinar on November 4 at 12:00PM.  Blaine is the person below that we are working with to set up our "earth funeral". We are grateful for this knowledge and want others to at least know about the process of Earth Funeral and its natural soil transformation. Thanks.  - JoAnn,

From the company: Thank you for taking the time to learn about Earth and our natural soil transformation today. It is truly a pleasure to work with you and your family and I am honored to be apart of this process with you. Below is the registration link we discussed for our upcoming webinar on November 4th. that you can share or forward to any of your friends and family. I have also included a few additional resources below as well.

I'd like to invite you or any of your friends and family to our next webinar on Wednesday, November 4th, at 3 pm ET / 12 pm PT.

We'll walk you through the pre-planning process and cover everything you need to know to get started. Many families tell us this format provides a comfortable way to learn more and get their questions answered. You can reserve your free spot here

Announcement #2 from JoAnn: the Gaza Children’s Shroud

WE WRITE NAMES

In the last year, thousands marched through Italy carrying a massive white shroud bearing the names of over 18,000 Palestinian children killed in Gaza (as of 2025). The first time the shroud was unfurled was during a demonstration against the soccer match Italy-Israel in Udine on 14 October 2025. Since then, the shroud has traveled to more than 40 localities in Italy.

Inspired by this extraordinary act of collective witness, Priests Against Genocide USA, Doctors Against Genocide, and Justice for All are leading the creation of a hand-written Children's Shroud. Every child's name is inscribed by hand by congregations and groups, Christians, Muslims, Jews, people of other faiths, and those of no religious tradition are coming together, affirming the equal dignity of every child and our common humanity. See the lists below.

The corporal nature of inscribing the names of those is a spiritual practice rooting us in the best of our religious traditions with moral imperative to defend human dignity, to seek justice and peace, and stand up to those who abuse power and destroy lives.

In Gaza, Palestinian parents wrote their children's names on their bodies so they could be identified when homes were bombed and bodies torn apart. Writing their names on their skin was an act of refusing to let their children vanish into the statistics of war.

And so we write their names again — this time not on their bodies, but on a Shroud the world cannot look away from. We write each name so that no child disappears, and no death is forgotten. We carry their names, uplifting each child and standing in solidarity with their families and all the people of Palestine.

20,000+ killed and counting.  Where is the justice?

With gratitude and solidarity,

Anne Habiby & Reena Geevarghese
